12 Tips to Enjoy a Spa Experience

A trip to a spa should be a relaxing and rejuvenating experience, but if you're unsure of spa etiquette, it can turn out to be an opposite experience. Do adopt the tips below as a rough guideline to get the most out of your spa experience.
1) Arrive early. Be at least 20 minutes earlier than the actual appointment to allow time to check in and change into your bathrobe and slippers. Some spas might need you to complete a consultation form.
2) Leave valuables at home. Even though spa have lockers, it's best to leave unnecessary valuables items such as necklace, rings, and etc at home.
3) Turn off your mobile phone. Turn off your mobile phone or best leave that in the locker. You don't want the ringing tone to ruin the calm and relaxing atmosphere. That is not good for you and others.
4) Request a spa tour. Go for a spa tour to make you comfortable in your surroundings.
5) Request a therapist. Choose whether you prefer a female or male therapist. Choose a certified massage therapist who meets your specific needs.
6) Pick your products and don't be afraid to ask questions. Ask the therapists to show and explain the products to you and discuss the options.
7) Speak up. If you're not comfortable with anything during your treatment, the pressure, the music, the temperature. Then ask the therapist to make an adjustment.
8) Don't' talk if you don't feel like it. You can talk during the treatment or just stay quiet, as you choose. The therapist will follow your lead.
9) Dress comfortably. Massage is usually done completely undress, but you are covered with a sheet/towel at all times. Only the part being massaged is exposed. If you're more comfortable having your underwear on, that's fine. Just communicate that to your therapist.
10) Reschedule if you're not well. Postpone your appointment if you have a cold or migraine as the massage will simulate your circulation and make you feel worse.
11) Take your time once done. After your last treatment, you will be led back to the locker room. There is no set time for you to leave. You can shower, get dressed, put on your makeup, do your hair, have a cup of tea and etc. before you leave.
12) Pay up and tip. Check the items in the receipt to ensure you're charged according to what you have enjoyed. And tipping is at your discretion.
